Hi! This is Allison with the Women's Outreach Center. We'll be tabling and chalking for Breast Cancer Awareness Month for all of October. We're also putting together 2 events for Love Your Body Day, the National Organization for Women's annual day of action about body images, on Wednesday, October 15th. From 10am-2pm we'll have a table with informational posters and handouts on the South Oval, and then we'll have a panel from 3-4pm in the Union to talk about body image, eating disorders, etc.
Thanks guys!

Hey everyone!
This is Sarah Warmker with Amnesty International. We are going to be hosting the Statewide meeting for Amnesty International groups in Oklahoma on February 7th, 2009 so we will be planning that this semester. We are also going to be planning the spring edition of Groovefest that will take place in April 2009.
We have a planning meeting to decide on the rest of our fall semester events on October 12 and we will finalize it on October 19th at 5pm in the Heritage room.
You can always check out our calendar and events on our blog at ouamnesty.blogspot.com

Hi all!
My name is Erikah Brown with Keep A Child Alive. Our organization helps provide anti-retroviral drugs to those affected with HIV/AIDS virus who need it, predominantly in Africa and India. Also money goes towards orphanages that have children orphaned by parents who died from HIV/AIDS.
Our organization would like to host multiple events the week of World AIDS Day (December 1st). We are looking at playing a film concerning KCA and its efforts, passing out red ribbons, and raising money to buy teddy bears for kids at one of the KCA orphanages.
We would really love to get help from other organizations who might want to get involved and raise awareness about the AIDS epidemic! Please let me know if you would like to join us in this week of awareness.
**Also, we thought about having a balloon release demonstration on the South Oval, but are unsure of the environmental aspects - does anybody know if this would be possible or what avenues we need to take to find out if its possible? We're a beginning organization so we love all the help we can get!
Also, next semester we plan on having an art sale, which we actually did as a fundraiser last semester that was really successful. If you have any art you would like to donate or know anybody who does, please let me know!
You can find out more about our group through our facebook group (Keep A Child Alive OU Chapter).
Thanks!!

Hello!
This is Josephine Bozek, the vice president of the Soka Students Association. We are a world peace organization based on Buddhist principles. We believe that to obtain peace and tolerance between all people, we must start within ourselves and our communities.
On Monday, November 3 at 4 PM, we will be kicking off our Victory Over Violence exhibit in Beaird Lounge. The exhibit is made up of panels with pictures, questions and statistics that raise awareness of violence, whether it is passive or active, and opens dialogue between students. The aim is to encourage tolerance between religion, gender, race, sexuality, and political outlooks.
The opening ceremony on November 3 will include speakers such as Women Studies professor, Jill Irvine, refreshments, a ribbon cutting, and the signing of peace pledges.
The rest of the week, November 4 - 7, the exhibit will be open 8 AM - 5 PM. Any and all help and/or support would be much appreciated! Since we are a fledgling student group, we have many members signed up, but limited help. Please announce this event to your organizations and refer anyone interested in helping to me at jbozek@ou.edu.
Whether people want to post flyers, help at the opening ceremony or in shifts throughout the week or they just want to come, let us know! Thank you all so much and I am glad we have this as an outlet for events!
