Dear SIAS Faculty, SIAS affiliate faculty, International Staff, and internationally engaged students,
We are writing to invite you to join OU’s Beta Gamma chapter of Phi Beta Delta, and to attend an initial planning meeting, to be held on 27 January 2009, 4:00 pm, in Adams Hall 150.
Phi Beta Delta is an academic honor society that recognizes students and faculty who have a special international background. The membership of our chapter is open to distinguished faculty and staff, as well as students who demonstrate high scholastic achievement and are actively involved in promoting international awareness at OU. In addition, membership is open to OU alumni and select members of the local community.
We are looking for faculty and students who will serve on governing committee for Phi Beta Delta and help to promote the activities of the chapter. Members of Phi Beta Delta will receive a handsome medal to be worn be with one’s academic regalia during graduation ceremonies.
We invite all SIAS faculty and affiliate faculty to join, as well as all staff whose work has an international dimension. Students are welcome to join if they meet the following standards for academic achievement:
• 3.5 GPA for Graduate Students
• 3.0 GPA for professional program students
• 3.2 GPA for upper division undergraduate students (60 or more completed hours)
The major activities our chapter plans for the Spring semester are to nominate new members, especially student members, and to organize an induction ceremony at the end of the Spring semester. We welcome you to become involved in this organization.
Please contact any of us if you have more questions. A flyer and membership application are attached to this email. Our first meeting will be 27 January 2009, 4:00 pm, in Adams Hall 150. Even if you are unable to attend the meeting, please consider joining Phi Beta Delta.
Sincerely,
Michelle Grunsted, President of Phi Beta Delta
Division of Marketing and Supply Chain Management
Robert Cox, President Elect
School of International and Area Studies
Sherry Moore, Coordinator
Division of Management
